The Woodlands
Located in a line from westerly to easterly at the northerly property boundary is and dramatic exhibit of "specimen category" native California Oaks [Quercus sp.].
Predominantly the existing Oak Woodland is sited on properties conjoined to the north, however the "enhanced drip line" canopy does extend onto the site of Deer Meadows Resort & Spa property approximately 75' at the westerly end and in a somewhat direct and reducing view line, extends approximately 35' at the easterly terminus of the resort property.
The proposers of Deer Meadows Resort & Spa recognize the stateliness of this environmental asset and is envisioning the creation of a enjoyable, readily "guest-accessible", linear parkland.
The Linear Park
Although the majority of the Oak woodland is sited on other's property to the north, the project's designers and engineers envision a linear park to be created the length of the Deer Meadows Resort & Spa northerly property boundary, to feature;
A project supportive Oak Woodlands Habitat Enhancement and Management Program [OWHEMP].
A guest-pedestrian friendly trailway surfaced with decomposed granite [DG] and delineated by the installation of a redwood-style headerstock.
Envisioned at three locations would be respite style, guest-friendly picnic vignettes.
These guest "serenity" retreats would be "DG" surfaced to approximately 224 sq. ft. and include a picnic bench, a "Fire Marshall Approved" barbeque station, and a refuse receptacle. One of the "retreats" would be provided an ADA compliant picnic/seating table.
Every effort will be undertaken to utilize environmentally "best practices possible", and possibly the project's proposers may incorporate "recycled/reconstituted" picnic/vignette landscape furnishings and elements.
The proposers of Deer Meadows Resort & Spa are committed to the Oak Woodland enhancement and preservation, to the controlling extent of their northerly property line. The proposers are hopeful the property owning neighbors to the north may find favor in this environmental opportunity, and in their development plans expand upon this vision to create a "people-welcome and guest friendly, " Linear Oak Woodland Park System".

An environmental and biological study will be conducted addressing the existing condition of the Oak Woodland micro-environment, and recommendations will be made as to "enhancement" and preservation of this stately environmental asset.
